The COP conferences Artworks

In 2017 the IPCC climate change conference was held in Glasgow UK. For this conference I created an artwork to reflect a key message taken from one of the conference frameworks. In subsequent years I have created an artwork for each new COP conference along similar lines.

COP 2026 ARTWORK (see below)

In 2026 COP will be hosted in Anatolia, and will bring together outcomes and actions from previous conferences together with reports on the most recent scientific monitoring of climate change. During the conference delegates will consider five key frameworks. The idea being that within these frameworks discussion will lead to a shared understanding, which will provide a consensus that can then move onto agreement about commitments and actions that can be implemented in each delegates home country. One of these frameworks is entitled creating resilient urban environments, which provided an initial inspiration for this artwork.

However following my own research particularly in the published psychology journals it became clear to me the key message of COP 31 is that we need to build resilience in all aspects of tackling climate change. Resilience is a dynamic process not a single outcome. We need to build resilience in individuals and communities across the globe. We need to build resilience in new economic and business models, we need to build resilience in geo-political arenas.
